N4 supports multiple berth calls within the same vessel visit to a single Facility. Each call is referred to as a berthing. You can define and edit berthings in advance using the Berthings form in N4.
To view a berth plan in XPS, you need to create at least one berthing for each vessel visit in N4. As of XPS 2.2, if you do not see a berthing for the visit in the berth scheduler, it is either because one was not explicitly created for that visit in N4, or the berthing ETA/ETD times entered for that berthing may no longer be within range of the vessel visit times. If the latter happens, the berthing may show up earlier or later on the schedule with a pattern over it. Dragging the berthing to the correct time range will correct this.
When you create the first berthing or upon first upgrade from a version that did not fully support multiple berthings, XPS moves all vessel queues and shifts to the active berthing. If you want to move queues to other berthings, you must do it manually. See Moving a work queue to another berthing.
You can view a graphical representation of the berthings in the Berth Scheduler window (on page 1) in XPS.
You can change the scheduling and position either through the Berth Scheduler in XPS or through the Berthings tab in N4. Changes in XPS are reflected in N4 and vice versa.
In XPS, you can see where there is a discrepancy between the vessel visit and the berthing times by a patterned fill in the berthing rectangle. The patterned fill indicates which portion is out of range of the vessel visit ETA/ETD.
Under the Vessel Inspector in N4, actions apply to the entire visit, not individual berthings.
Similar to the functionality for single vessel visits, berthing records are not visible in XPS until the visit has reached the INBOUND visit phase. For details for how multiple berthings are handled by vessel visit stage, see the following table:
How other features interact with multiple berthings
Regardless of the number of berthings you've set for a vessel visit, other features, such as Expert Decking, Quay Commander, Vessel Planning, and Equipment Control all process the vessel visit as one visit. Berthings are managed across these features in the following ways:
When a vessel is opened, planning information for all berthings is viewable and editable. All containers for all berthings will be in a single load list for the vessel visit.
In Quay Commander, details for all berthings are shown with crane activity for future berthings for the same visit.
In the Vessel Schedule window, all berthings for a vessel visit display. By default, if there are no berthings defined in N4 for a vessel visit, the vessel visit displays in the Vessel Schedule window. Otherwise, you only see the berthings for the vessel visit. To display the visit along with the berthings, clear the Vessel Schedule window Display
Hide Redundant Vessel Visits check box.
